Eventbrite - ChamberFest Dubuque Concert

Experience an intimate concert with world-class performers while supporting local community music programs. Don’t miss the 10th year of ChamberFest Dubuque!

One of the Tri-State Area’s most unique concerts, ChamberFest Dubuque is led by Artistic Director Michael Gilbertson, who was a 2018 Finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in Music. A NISOM and Juilliard alumnus, Gilbertson is a composer and faculty member at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Each year since 2009, he invites a select group of musicians from across the country to join him to perform a benefit concert for NISOM.

Experience ChamberFest Dubuque on Thursday, June 7 at 7PM in Clarke University’s Jansen Hall, sponsored by US Bank. Enjoy solos and chamber ensembles with a variety of musical styles that highlight the talents of each artist. Following the concert, mingle with the performers during a champagne and dessert reception.

Tickets are now on sale. Take advantage of early-bird pricing to save $10 when you purchase your adult tickets for only $40 through May 25. Beginning May 26, adult tickets sell for the regular admission price of $50. Student tickets are available for $25. Seating is general admission. Purchase your tickets at the NISOM office or order online now. Call (563) 690-0151 to charge tickets by phone. Fees may apply to phone, online, and credit card purchases. NISOM office hours are 10:30AM-6:30PM Monday through Thursday, and 10:30-5:30PM Fridays.

The tenth year will feature Gilbertson with other returning favorites and new faces. Violinist Hanah Stuart was among the first performers in 2009; then a Juilliard student, today she is a member of the San Diego Symphony. Dubuque native and cellist Bridget Pasker first performed at ChamberFest Dubuque in 2010 during her first year at Juilliard and then went on to study at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. In a testament to quality of musicians Dubuque produces, this year will introduce a third Dubuque native, percussionist Evan Saddler, who recently earned a master’s degree from Juilliard. ChamberFest Dubuque 2018 also features returning pianist David Fung, who performed at the festival in 2013 and 2014 and recently made his solo recital debut at The Kennedy Center, and clarinetist Zach Manzi of Miami’s New World Symphony Orchestra, who is new to the festival and was featured in his own TED Talk.

Each year features a unique set of performers that only come together during NISOM’s ChamberFest Dubuque, so whether this is your first year or your tenth, you will experience a concert like none other. The audience calls it “fantastic,” “fabulous,” and “awesome” with a “truly excellent level of musicianship.” One 2017 concert goer said, “Even if I went to New York and spent a fortune I wouldn’t see anything better (maybe not even as good)!”

With your ticket purchase, in addition to hearing the artists in an intimate setting, you support music in our community. Proceeds from ChamberFest Dubuque support NISOM’s mission to provide quality, affordable music education and enrichment in the Tri-State Area. You provide music lessons and classes to students of all ages and economic backgrounds and give creative outlets to adult musicians in ensembles. You reach students in downtown Dubuque with free and low-cost programs and bring the community free concerts.

Michael Gilbertson was student at NISOM before attending the prestigious Juilliard and Yale Schools of Music, so he knows the impact of a music school in Dubuque. Gilbertson first approached NISOM in 2009 about a benefit concert because he wanted to give back to our school. Now, he returns year after year to bring this musical performance to our community and help NISOM continue its mission because he believes in the importance of our work.
