Pam Crawford

Piano Faculty

Pamela Crawford taught vocal/choral/general music in Iowa public schools for 34 years, the final 21 years in Maquoketa IA.  She since has taught music appreciation/ humanities for NICC (Peosta) and EICC (Maquoketa campus). Pam also directs choirs at Westminster Presbyterian Church and is adjudicating choral, vocal, and piano entries for the Iowa High School Music Association festival contests and all-state chorus for the 36th year.  Mrs. Crawford holds a BS in Music Education from Iowa State University with major instruments in voice and (collaborative) piano. Her Masters of Music Education with a vocal performance emphasis is from Drake University.  Pam also was chosen by Northwestern University of Evanston IL to be a summer fellow in this program’s pilot year; ten music educators were chosen nation-wide. Mrs. Crawford also served for 10 years as the vocal music educator on the IHSMA executive board (elected by the superintendents of Iowa schools.)

Pamela Crawford has studied or played piano since age 6; as a HS freshman, she was a state finalist in the IMTA piano auditions. Pam began college music studies as a piano major, but quickly was “absorbed” by the voice department as an accompanist. She was blessed with teachers who shared a variety of teaching techniques and learning styles. Even while teaching high school, Pam enjoyed working with her student-accompanists and hosting/managing state piano contests. Mrs. Crawford feels most comfortable teaching piano to elementary & middle school students AND has discovered she also really enjoys teaching piano as a proficiency tool to vocalists and bringing Adults to the enjoyment of playing piano!

Mrs. Crawford also teaches voice lessons at NISOM.
