Sara Calderon

Violin & Viola Faculty

Mrs. Calderon is a recent graduate from Western Michigan University with a bachelors degree in Music Education and endorsements in instrumental music education and Secondary English. She is in her third year as a Middle and Elementary school orchestra teacher in Dubuque Community Schools. Mrs. Calderon is certified in the Suzuki method through book 1.

Tracey Rush

Violin & Viola Faculty

Mrs. Rush teaches orchestra at Roosevelt Middle School and is conductor of the Dubuque Community String Orchestra. She has a BS in Music Education from Bob Jones University and a Masters of Music from UNI. Mrs. Rush has served as principal violist with the Mississippi Valley Philharmonic and a member of the Dubuque String Quartet.

Miss Tieskotter graduated with a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa and is certified to teach K-5 and 5-12 Music Education in Iowa. She recently finished her first year as an Itinerant Elementary school orchestra teacher in Dubuque Community Schools and is excited to be teaching in Dubuque.

Mr. Geyssens graduated from Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL with a Bachelor's degree in Music with Teacher Certification. For the past three years he has been the Director of Orchestras with the Marshalltown Community School District. He is currently the Director of Orchestras at Dubuque Senior High School.

Bass Faculty

Mike Jozefowicz graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Platteville with a bachelor’s degree in music education having both a vocal and an instrumental major.  In 1971 he earned his Master’s Degree in teaching music.  String bass was Mike’s original instrument, but one that he never had opportunity to teach until retirement.
