Suzuki Strings

NISOM offers Suzuki instruction for students as young as seven!

Your child can make beautiful music before learning how to read it! The Suzuki method applies the basic principles of language acquisition to learning music with the mother tongue approach of listening and repeating. Parents learn along with their children in order to aid in at-home practicing. The most important ingredient for success is the parent's willingness to devote regular time to work closely with the child. No prior experience necessary.

Suzuki instruction is offered in weekly private lessons. Tuition and registration information are the same as any private lessons. Students may begin at any time (pending instructor availability); tuition will be prorated. See Registration Information for details.

Parents are encouraged but not required to attend with violin students age 7 and up. Parental involvement in all other lessons is essential.

Violin: Continuing students ages 4 and up; new students ages 7 and up. Instructor Sara Calderon is a Suzuki trained instructor.

Violin & Viola: New and continuing students ages 5 and up with instructor Rebecca Payne, Suzuki trained instructor.

The Suzuki method is more than just teaching a child to play an instrument. It seeks to develop the whole child and help them find the joy of making music!

Call (563) 690-0151 to arrange to sit in on a Suzuki lesson!
