New Executive Director Announced

NISOM is pleased to announce that David Resnick has been hired as the next executive director. Beginning August 1, Resnick will replace NISOM founder Tracey Rush as the head of Dubuque’s community music school. Rush announced her retirement as executive director in March but will remain on the faculty.

“I have a passion for music and for music learners,” says Resnick, who currently serves on the Dubuque City Council. “I'm looking forward to all aspects of this position.”

Resnick has been a music educator in Dubuque for 35 years, most recently at Clarke University where he served as the Director of Bands, Chair of Arts at Clarke, and Founder of the Great River Wind Symphony. He has been involved in a broad spectrum of community organizations, including: Bell Tower Theater, Dubuque City Youth Ballet, and the Grand Opera House. He has performed with several area music ensembles and has been involved as stage director, musical director, composer, playwright, orchestra director, and/or actor in over 50 musical theatre productions. He holds a Master of Music Education degree from Northern Illinois University and a permanent professional teaching certificate from the State of Iowa.
